Local author Carrie Birde will host a free public reading and book-signing event for her newly released novel, "A Small Tale of Uncommon Grace," on Sunday, December 14 at 7PM at The Sanctuary in Butler, New Jersey.
Described by early readers as "achingly beautiful," "magical and ethereal," and "a true delight" the novel blends elements of fairy tale, cozy fantasy, and coming-of-age storytelling. Uncommon Grace follows a young woman who discovers she can communicate with animals and the natural world – a gift her village embraces rather than fears. When a nearby lake begins to die, she embarks on a dangerous journey to uncover what threatens the environment and the people she loves.
Though the book fits comfortably alongside young adult literature, it has been praised for its cross-generational appeal through its themes of community, connection, and environmental mystery.
The event will include:
- A live reading of selected passages
- An audience Q and A with the author
- A signing session
- Photo opportunities
- Light refreshments will be available.
Attendees will be able to purchase signed copies on-site. Admission is free and you can reserve your spot at The Sanctuary's website or at the door.
