The Black River & Western Railroad is an independently owned and operated Class III common-carrier railroad located in rural Hunterdon County New Jersey. From South to North, the railroad connects the towns of Lambertville, Ringoes, Flemington, and Three Bridges. Freight is interchanged with the Norfolk Southern Railway at Three Bridges. The BR&W is part of the Belvidere & Delaware River Railway (BDRV) which operates freight services on several shortline railroads in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as locomotive leasing throughout the United States.
Loved the Christmas train! What a great way to get into the holiday spirit! The highlight - Santa, Mrs. Claus and all the wonderful elves. They made the ride festive and interactive. Loved hearing The Night Before Christmas, and singing along to the carols. Can't wait to do it again next year!
Would not reccomend spending the money on the Christmas train. It is poorly run this year. Management unfortunately put a young, pushy female i charge of the elves and her "power" has gone to her head. What was a very festive occasion last season is not worth experiencing this season. If you can overlook the elves...the trainmen and the Clauses are the redeeming factor!
Our family loved the ride. It's about 5 mile ride one way. We wish it was longer as we all love trains. Not much of a scenic ride but a good one to try something new for a change.
If you (or your family) love trains, please come visit BR&W. Train crew were wonderful. Our trip was fun and we will definitely be back!
One of the best regional scenic railroads...this was my 2nd visit ..i've been on the steam #60 and the diesel...great ride...a little short but from what i understand it may reach Lambertville soon .. great staff..nice museum..
