A history of creative vision

For nearly four decades, the Mason Gross School of the Arts has served as a creative laboratory for thinking artists. Rigorous arts curricula and a faculty of esteemed professionals and scholars actively engaged in their fields make for versatile working artists navigating careers with daring and discipline. Our more than 1,000 students and 224 faculty members share a passion for the arts in all their forms.

Engaging the community

The Mason Gross School of the Arts reaches out to the community via Arts Online course offerings, Extension Division classes serving artists of all ages and abilities, the year-round Mason Gross Presents event series featuring esteemed visiting artists and top-notch student artists, and the annual Rutgers in New York series of Manhattan-based performances and exhibits.

Mission

Mason Gross School of the Arts is the flagship public arts conservatory of New Jersey. It is a community of artists—dancers, filmmakers, musicians, theater artists, and visual artists—who study, teach, create, perform, and exhibit. The mission of the school is to nurture creative talent and instill the insights and skills that future generations of arts professionals need to contribute to the creative and scholarly world. The school offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in dance, filmmaking, music, theater, and visual arts. In addition to its professional arts training programs, Mason Gross provides the larger community the opportunity to embrace the creative arts through the activities of its four divisions: Arts Online, Brodsky Print Center, Extension Division, and Rutgers Center for Digital Filmmaking.
