I went here for the Disney Live show.... it was like "Mickey & Minnie's Magical Show" or something like that. we brought our 3 year old daughter, she absolutely loved it, I even loved it. The special effects & audience participation was amazing! The theatre itself is not very big but it's perfect for the shows that they have, I definitely want to go again soon!
My family went to go see Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. I’m a 19 year old male college student... and I loved it. This show was and still is my favorite Christmas movie and the theatre did a superb job of producing the same story. The casting was great and the effects/costumes are spot on. Other than the tons of little kids in the audience (many of which talk and move around during the show), the play was great and I recommend it to anyone who loves the movie!

The State Theatre is a lovely venue for plays, concerts, magic shows and shows of any type. It has comfortable seating with very good to great views. There is a bar area for many types of beverages, water and snacks. Restrooms on both levels with an area upstairs also for stretching during intermission. There is valet parking across the street at the Heldridge Hotel, other parking garages near the theatre or street parking with meters.
Came here to see a ballet performance. The stage is very big and the theater itself had spacious seating and was very clean. The parking is a bit tricky to find. You can try to street park or just put it in a garage near by. There are many choices of food outside of the theater so the location is great!
Not a bad seat in the house. Reasonable prices for tickets and some interesting performances. Acoustics are absolutely phenomenal. Old art deco is cool too.
